About FlockSavvy

FlockSavvy is a resource for backyard chicken keepers — from first-time coop builders to seasoned flock owners. We publish under the FlockSavvy name as an editorial team, and we hold our guides to one standard: be the most accurate, genuinely useful version on the topic.

How we research

Every guide is built from primary sources — university extension services, avian veterinary references, breed standards, and manufacturer specifications. We update pages as guidance changes.

• We rely on primary sources — university extension services (poultry/animal science), avian veterinary references, recognized breed standards, and manufacturer specifications.
• For gear, we compare product types on documented specs and published guidance — not on whatever pays the most. We don't claim to have tested products we haven't used.
• We date our pages and revise them as guidance or products change.

Bringing in real expertise

As FlockSavvy grows, individual guides are reviewed by experienced keepers and poultry professionals, credited by name on the pages they review. Health topics are general information, not a substitute for a veterinarian.

How FlockSavvy is funded
